Jinko ESS is supporting a 220 MWh hybrid battery energy storage portfolio in Germany, pairing its Tera liquid-cooled systems with planned solar generation under a hybrid power purchase agreement framework.
The portfolio aims to make renewable energy delivery more predictable while providing flexibility for grid operations and electricity markets.
At the heart of Jinko ESS's 220 MWh hybrid battery energy storage portfolio in Germany sits the company's Tera liquid-cooled energy storage system, a unit rated at 5.01 MWh. The Tera system offers 3x grid-forming capability for 10 seconds, which the company says delivers strong instantaneous support under weak-grid and high-dynamic-power conditions.
Black-start and fast frequency-regulation capabilities are described as markedly enhancing dynamic stability and grid adaptability. The company also pointed to the system's tested round-trip conversion efficiency of 94.1% and a 20-year design life, which Jinko ESS stated further compresses the levelized cost of energy over the full lifecycle.
The 220 MWh portfolio brings together two categories of storage capacity under a single integrated framework. According to the press release, green BESS capacity is directly associated with renewable generation, while grey BESS capacity can provide broader system and market flexibility. The storage assets are coupled with a planned PV portfolio under a hybrid PPA framework, an arrangement the company said demonstrates an integrated approach to managing generation, storage, and energy delivery.
Jinko ESS stated that combining battery storage with solar generation can create a more flexible and predictable renewable energy profile. By shifting energy across time, balancing variations in photovoltaic output, and responding to market signals, the hybrid portfolio is intended to strengthen the commercial value of renewable generation while supporting grid stability.
Roberto Murgioni, General Manager of Jinko ESS Europe, said in the announcement, "We are very proud to support this important 220 MWh portfolio in Germany. This is a great example of what can be achieved through close collaboration, and we are pleased to contribute our technology, experience, and enduring support."
The company expressed appreciation for the trust and close cooperation it has received in Germany throughout the development of the portfolio and said it looks forward to continuing the partnership as the companies advance integrated energy storage and renewable generation projects in central Europe.
Jinko ESS said it will continue to work with partners across Europe to deliver storage solutions that improve grid performance, enable innovative commercial structures, and unlock greater value from renewable energy.
