Entech has signed its first contract in Belgium, a deal to build a 170 MW / 340 MWh battery energy storage system in La Louvière.
The agreement was concluded through a temporary consortium with Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, and it arrives as the two companies move away from the joint venture they formed in 2024 toward cooperating on a project-by-project basis.
Turnkey Build for Aukera in La Louvière
The contract for the La Louvière project was awarded by Aukera, the pan-European renewable energy and battery storage platform backed by AtlasInvest, Reggeborgh, and SFPIM, Belgium's sovereign wealth fund.
Its scope covers the turnkey construction of the 170 MW / 340 MWh system, which will connect to ELIA's Belgian transmission grid. Commissioning is scheduled for mid-2027.
The project also includes a two-year operations and maintenance agreement, which extends the consortium's involvement beyond construction and into the early operating phase of the asset.
The turnkey scope means the consortium will deliver the complete system, while the O&M arrangement covers the period following commissioning. The announcement marks the first contract for Entech in Belgium.
It was signed through a consortium with Eiffage Énergie Systèmes rather than under the joint venture structure the two companies have used since 2024.
System Configuration and Grid Connection
The La Louvière system is rated at 170 MW of power with 340 MWh of storage capacity, a configuration that corresponds to two hours of storage at full output. Because it will connect to ELIA's transmission grid, the asset sits within Belgium's high-voltage network rather than at the distribution level.
Aukera is described as a pan-European renewable energy and battery storage platform. The involvement of a platform whose backers include AtlasInvest, Reggeborgh, and Belgium's sovereign wealth fund SFPIM underlines the scale of the investment behind the development.
Joint Venture Closes After Meeting Its Goals
Alongside the contract news, Entech and Eiffage Énergie Systèmes confirmed they have mutually agreed to end their joint venture once the projects currently under construction have been delivered. The companies said they intend to prioritise the temporary consortium form of cooperation going forward, working project by project.
According to Entech, the joint venture achieved its objective. Over the past two years it secured several major contracts, allowing the teams of Eiffage Énergie Systèmes and Entech to combine their expertise.
The arrangement contributed to both partners' business activity and financial performance under an agreed allocation of 40 percent to Entech and 60 percent to Eiffage Énergie Systèmes.
The companies stated that the joint venture structure is no longer suited to their needs, which led to the mutual decision to shift to project-by-project cooperation. Entech said the decision does not affect its short- or medium-term objectives under its 2029 roadmap.
Entech Points to Scale and Financial Capacity
Entech said it has strengthened its leadership in the utility-scale energy storage market, citing its demonstrated ability since 2025 to scale up and deliver major projects in France and internationally.
The Belgian contract adds to that international profile as the company seeks to extend its reach beyond its home market. The company said this step change in scale is already reflected in its results for the first half of 2026, which show strong growth in revenue and profitability.
According to Entech, this performance gives it the financial capacity to accelerate its international expansion.
A Working Relationship That Continues
The decision to end the joint venture does not signal the end of the working relationship between Entech and Eiffage Énergie Systèmes.
The two companies have said they intend to prioritise cooperation through temporary consortia, and the La Louvière contract is the first example of that approach in action. The existing joint venture will continue only until the projects currently under construction have been delivered, at which point the partnership will be formally closed.
For Entech, the arrangement preserves access to the combined expertise it has built with Eiffage Énergie Systèmes while allowing each project to be structured individually. The company has indicated that its 2029 roadmap objectives remain unchanged by the restructuring.
