TREX Energy, a Hyderabad-based energy storage manufacturer, has brought its new lithium battery plant into operation at E-City, Raviryal, Maheshwaram, in Hyderabad. The facility was commissioned on 21 September 2026, and the company announced the opening publicly on 5 November 2026.
Commissioning Dates and Location
The plant houses a 12 PPM automatic module assembly line, meaning it can assemble battery modules at a rate of 12 parts per minute. The line is set up to produce 52S battery packs destined for 261 kWh and 5 MWh energy storage systems.
According to the company, the automated setup is designed to deliver production consistency, manufacturing efficiency and quality control as demand for storage solutions climbs.
Executives Point to Affordability and Scale
Bharat S. Chhittarka, Director at TREX Energy, framed energy storage as a timing problem. "Energy must be available when it's needed, and BESS is a key solution," he said, adding that the company is focused on cutting financing costs to make battery energy storage more affordable and reliable for the Indian market.
Roshan Shaik, the company's Technical Director, called the 12 PPM automatic module assembly line a significant step forward in manufacturing capability. "It enables us to produce battery modules efficiently and consistently, supporting BESS solutions ranging from 5 kWh to 5 MWh," he said. "This facility strengthens our ability to meet India's growing energy storage demand with scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions."
Why the Company Built It: Domestic Demand and Import Reduction
TREX Energy positioned the plant as a response to India's expanding renewable energy capacity and the storage needs that come with it, spanning industries, utilities and households.
The company noted that Battery Energy Storage Systems and other energy storage solutions can smooth out fluctuations in power supply, assist with peak-load management and provide backup power across a range of applications. Local manufacturing, the company said, is intended to serve this evolving demand by developing storage solutions suited to Indian operating conditions, reducing reliance on imports and improving delivery timelines.
What the Plant Will Make
The Hyderabad facility will produce battery packs for 261 kWh BESS configurations and larger energy storage systems. TREX Energy's broader portfolio runs from 5 kWh residential-scale systems up to 5 MWh utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems.
Within that range, the company offers commercial and industrial BESS solutions for factories, offices and commercial facilities looking to manage energy use, support backup power and strengthen operational resilience. Utility-scale BESS is aimed at grid-related applications and large renewable energy projects.
On the residential side, the company supplies home energy storage systems and home inverter batteries for household backup power. The portfolio also includes battery packs and ESS solutions, notably the 52S battery packs designed for 261 kWh BESS and 5 MWh systems.
By covering residential, Commercial & Industrial and utility-scale segments, the company aims to address a broad spread of energy storage requirements across customer types of very different sizes.
Madhya Pradesh Allots Land for Phase 2
The Hyderabad commissioning is not the end of the company's build-out. The Madhya Pradesh Government has allotted four acres of land to TREX Energy for a proposed Phase 2 facility.
The planned expansion is expected to enlarge the company's manufacturing footprint and help it reach customers in additional Indian markets. The company cautioned that details on the Phase 2 facility's capacity, development timeline and commissioning remain subject to confirmation.
Investment Plans Going Forward
TREX Energy described the Hyderabad plant as evidence of its commitment to building local manufacturing capability for India's evolving energy storage ecosystem. The company said that as the expansion progresses, it intends to keep investing in manufacturing capabilities, technology and local talent to drive adoption of energy storage solutions in India.
