Fifty heavy-duty trucks carrying Gotion's self-developed Gotion Grid 5MWh storage systems left two of the company's manufacturing bases at the same time on Sept. 28, launching full-scale delivery for a project the battery maker identifies as Africa's largest AC-coupled energy storage installation.
The systems were dispatched simultaneously from Jinzhai and Nantong, and the company announced the shipment publicly on Sept. 30, 2026, from Jinzhai. The cargo is bound for Egypt, where the equipment will serve the Nefertiti and Horus projects.
Gotion describes these as the country's first large-scale standalone storage projects and, once finished, the largest standalone storage facilities on the African continent.
The company completed the first shipment within three months of signing the agreement, a pace it attributes to its vertically integrated supply chain and coordination between upstream and downstream operations.
The Nefertiti and Horus installations are being developed by AMEA Power and constructed by China Energy Engineering Group, with Gotion supplying the storage technology.
Gotion characterizes the facilities as standalone storage assets, independent of any single generation source and designed to deliver system-level services. In that configuration, the company says the systems will buffer the grid, support stability, and enable peak-shaving by shifting energy supply to better match demand throughout the day.
According to Gotion, the completed facilities are intended to reinforce grid stability, facilitate the integration of solar and wind generation, and support Egypt's 2030 clean energy objectives.
The storage capacity has defined roles at two established renewable energy locations in Egypt. At Benban, the systems are expected to increase solar consumption by absorbing output from the solar site.
At the Zafarana wind farm, the equipment is slated to provide flexible peak-shaving and help smooth the delivery of wind power. The systems have been adapted for the conditions they will face in Egypt.
Gotion states the units were upgraded to withstand extreme heat, sandstorms, and salt fog, and that they offer high-voltage stability, high safety, and millisecond-level response.
A distinguishing feature of Gotion's involvement, as the company presents it, is full DC-to-AC integration. On the DC side, the company supplies its own cells, battery management systems, and DC systems.
On the AC side, it provides power conversion systems and transformers. With this end-to-end scope, Gotion says the Gotion Grid product is positioned to act as a critical buffer for grid stability and peak-shaving services.
The company links this integration capability directly to the speed of execution. Signing through first shipment in three months is presented by Gotion as evidence of its strength in large-scale storage integration, global supply chain coordination and localized delivery, and as a benchmark for delivery speed on projects of this scale.
Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power, said the shipment opens a new stage of broader cooperation. He stated that AMEA Power is proud and satisfied with its partnership with Gotion and is actively exploring new opportunities across the Middle East and Africa.
Li Chen, Senior Vice President of Gotion and President of Gotion Americas, described Egypt as the company's key step into the Middle East and North Africa region. Chen said the project demonstrates that Gotion can deliver end-to-end, operate locally, and commit for the long term.
The Egyptian shipment sits within a broader Middle East push by the company. Gotion has also announced that Saudi Power Procurement Company, or SPPC, awarded Gotion High-Tech 6 GWh in Saudi Arabia's first utility-scale battery storage program. That award represents approximately 75 percent of the kingdom's first utility-scale battery energy storage system tender.
Taken together, the company presents the Egyptian project and the Saudi award as evidence of growing traction for its storage business across the region, though the two engagements are separate and distinct in scope.
Gotion has placed the speed of the signing-to-shipment cycle at the center of its messaging.
The company states that the interval from contract signing to the departure of the first fifty trucks was three months, and it credits two factors: a vertically integrated supply chain spanning cells, BMS, DC systems, PCS and transformers, and coordination across upstream and downstream operations.
In Gotion's framing, this sets an industry-leading benchmark for delivery speed on utility-scale storage projects. The dispatch itself was structured to showcase that coordination.
Rather than consolidating cargo at a single site, the company loaded and sent fifty trucks simultaneously from Jinzhai and Nantong, both of which manufacture the Gotion Grid 5MWh product line.
The first consignment consisted of fifty heavy-duty truckloads of Gotion Grid 5MWh storage systems. The 5MWh unit is the company's self-developed storage product and forms the core of the equipment being supplied to Nefertiti and Horus.
The Sept. 28 departure marks the start of full-scale delivery for the Egyptian projects, with the announcement of the shipment following on Sept. 30 from Jinzhai.
The project structure as disclosed by Gotion assigns clear roles to three organizations.
AMEA Power is the developer of the Nefertiti and Horus facilities. China Energy Engineering Group is the builder. Gotion is the storage technology provider, supplying the Gotion Grid 5MWh systems with its full DC-to-AC integration.
The completed installations, per the company's description, will stand as the first large-scale standalone storage projects in Egypt and the largest such facilities in Africa.
Their stated purpose is to deliver system-level services, grid stability, renewable integration and peak-shaving, rather than to support a single generation asset, with the Benban solar site and the Zafarana wind farm cited among the beneficiaries of the storage capacity.
