LG Energy Solution said on Oct. 27, 2026, that it has entered a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Energix-Renewable Energies Ltd. covering battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Europe and the United States.
Pact Targets Roughly 2 GWh Within 24 Months, With Expansion Talks Planned
Under the terms, the two companies will explore the potential supply of roughly 1.5 GWh of BESS solutions in Europe and 0.5 GWh in the U.S. over the next 24 months, for a total of about 2 GWh.
The partners will also hold discussions on raising the overall volume to approximately 4.5 GWh, split into 3 GWh in Europe and 1.5 GWh in North America, drawing on LG Energy Solution's operations on both continents.
Pairing LG's Storage Technology with Energix's Project Pipeline
The MoU is designed to bring together LG Energy Solution's energy storage system (ESS) solutions and Energix's renewable energy development capabilities and worldwide project pipeline. Energix develops, owns, and operates renewable energy and storage projects and pursues a long-term growth strategy aimed at a global portfolio exceeding 8 GW. As part of the arrangement, the companies intend to carry out regular reviews and assess additional opportunities within Energix's renewable energy project pipeline.
According to the announcement, the collaboration is expected to help integrate renewable generation with energy storage, improving grid flexibility and the dependable delivery of clean energy in key markets.
Agreement Extends Existing Work on Polish and Lithuanian Projects
The new memorandum is grounded in earlier cooperation between the two firms in Europe. LG Energy Solution has already supplied battery solutions for Energix's Nowe Czarnowo project in Poland. Separately, the companies are in discussions about potential collaboration on Energix's Jonava project in Lithuania, a hybrid renewable energy development that includes approximately 320 MWh of ESS capacity and is targeted to start commercial operations in 2027.
LG Energy Solution Sees Room to Broaden European ESS Presence
LG Energy Solution described the partnership as a significant opportunity to widen its involvement in large-scale ESS projects in Europe. The company noted that, following recent momentum in North America, particularly in ESS projects tied to power grids and renewable energy, it plans to grow its business footprint in Europe and reinforce the foundations of its global ESS business through the agreement with Energix.
